Destination guide, 2026 intake

Study in France. World names, at public prices.

France quietly offers something rare. You can sit in a globally ranked classroom for a few hundred euros a year, live on real student support, and graduate into luxury, aerospace, tech and research hiring. You pay for the city, not the degree.

Why France

Four reasons France punches above its price.

01

Symbolic public fees

Public universities charge a few hundred euros a year, even ones with centuries of reputation. The classroom is close to free. You are paying for life in France, not for the teaching.

02

A real safety net

Students get housing aid through CAF, heavily subsidised transport, cheap canteen meals and proper healthcare. The sticker cost and the cost you actually live on are very different numbers.

03

English taught masters everywhere

Business, engineering and science now run hundreds of English taught programmes, the grandes écoles included. You can do brilliant work long before your French is fluent.

04

A seat in the heart of Europe

Paris, Lyon and Toulouse put you a train ride from most of the continent, with strong graduate hiring and a clear route to a job seeker stay after you finish.

Universities we work with

The names that come up most often.

Sorbonne University

Public, Paris

One of the most respected names in the world, strong across arts, sciences and medicine. Symbolic public fees.

Université PSL

Public, Paris

A powerhouse cluster including ENS and Dauphine, consistently France's highest ranked. Research heavy and selective.

École Polytechnique

Grande école, Paris

The legendary engineering school, elite and demanding, with a growing set of English taught options.

HEC Paris

Grande école, Paris

Europe's top business school by many measures, with real scholarships for strong international students.

Sciences Po

Grande école, Paris

The home of French political and social science. Global, English friendly and fiercely selective.

University of Lyon

Public, Lyon

Large, affordable and research strong, in France's friendliest big city. A gentler cost than Paris.

Funding

Scholarships worth knowing.

Eiffel Excellence

~€1,180 / mo

Monthly stipend plus travel and insurance for masters and PhD. Very competitive, nominated by the university.

Regional and research grants

Varies, often full

Targeted awards for science, climate and engineering research, fully funded for selected students.

Erasmus+

Paris is the expensive choice. Lyon, Toulouse, Montpellier and Lille run far cheaper, often €800 to €1,100 a month once housing aid kicks in.
